Several tree types from the first game. From left to right: a bush, a palm tree, a pine tree and a maple tree.

Trees can appear as individual objects or as part of a forest. They are a source of wood, and can be found on all lands of Black & White and Black & White 2.

The growth rate of trees is affected by the soil they are planted on, and by the tree itself (i.e. palm trees grow faster on sand).

Planting a tree far from villages will generate a small green cloud of dust at the stem, meaning the tree will grow into a forest if watered there. Planting it close to buildings will result in a cloud of drab colored dust, meaning the tree may grow in size if watered, but will not result in a forest.
