Hermit

The Hermit

The hermit is a NPC found at Land 1 of the first Black & White game.

A lonely man, he wears a coonskin cap and spends all of his time wandering around his house, which is located near his quarry.

He offers a challenge called The Hermit in the form of a silver reward scroll in which he expresses disbelief towards the player character, claiming that "Gods have huge creatures" and that he won't be impressed until he sees one that is big enough.

The Good Way[]

If the player decides to show his creature to the hermit, he will mock him if it's too small.

When the creature is big enough though, the hermit will be impressed and ask him to lift a big rock wich hides a one-shot miracle underneath it. The hermit will then tell the player how fireflies hide under objects just before dawn and become one-shot miracles. The player will also be rewarded with a miracle dispenser containing another rechargeable water miracle (the first being the one obtained by helping the explorers with their boat).

The Evil Way[]

The player can also choose to either kill the hermit or destroy his house. Be warned, though, that if his house is attacked while he's alive, he will set the Norse village store on fire. These methods won't reward the player with a miracle dispenser.

Trivia[]

  • If the player chooses to lift the rock by himself, the hermit will still tell about the fireflies and miracles (the conscience will explain that to the player if the hermit is dead), but it will be impossible to complete the quest, denying the player the miracle dispenser.
